warranted for ninety (90) days, which is the warranty carried by TREMEC.

Transmission
Selection
Our kits are
based on a brand new TREMEC TKO-500, TKO-600 5-speed or a T-56 6-speed. Each of
these are quality, high performance transmissions. The 5-speeds have one
(1) overdrive gear and the 6-speeds have 2 overdrive gears. Other
transmissions considered were: Richmond, Getrag, Borg Warner T56 & T5, Toyota
and others. Criteria of selection was based on: load capacity, shift
quality, noise, spare parts, warranty, service, cost and overall quality.
Performance
This manual
transmission conversion will proved outstanding response and performance gains.

Engine output is coupled
directly to the wheels, eliminating the sluggishness associated with
automatic transmission torque converter slip and hydraulic coupling.

First gear is much lower
than in the automatic. Exceptional quick launces, or even tire burn
outs, if desired, are easily achieved with the standared 2.88:1
differential in 1981 & up XJ5s. No differential gear change; required
for any model year. Example: 1st gear: 2.48:1 (GM400) auto
VS. 3.29:1 TKO500

Subsequent gears (2nd
4th) are more closely spaced and reduce RPM drop. Example:
2nd-3rd
gear 1.48,1.00 (GM auto) VS. 1.98,1.34,1.00 2nd 4th
gear TKO500

Performance driving is
achieved far more easily by maintaining RPM in power band (typically 3500
& up), regardless of vehicle speed.

Top speed is increased due
to OVERDRIVE 5th gear ratio of 0.68. Generally, this gear is
selected for efficiency.
Durability
The TREMEC TKO
and T-56 series are exceptional transmission and are among the few that are
strong enough to withstand V12 hp and torque output. They will provide
years of trouble-free service and fun!
Ride Quality
Original
driving quality with silky-smooth engagement and shifts are easily achieved.
Gear noise associated with manual transmissions is minimal.

converter slip, etc.)

Converted car is lighter

Overdrive allows RPM to be
dramatically lowered at highway speeds. This is especially helpful on
pre-HE cars (pre-1981) having lower differential ratios. Note: Only
one (1) overdrive is required. Hence, the selection of a 5-speed or
6-speed.
Additional
Engine Cooling Capacity

The engine cooling capacity
is increased due to the absence of hot automatic transmission fluid flowing
through your radiator. You gain extra cooling capacity immediately.

Narrower transmission
improves air flow out of engine compartment.
Demonstrator
Car
We usually
have a 5-speed or 6-speed on site for demonstration.
Application
Kit is
developed to replace the Borg Warner and General Motors three or four speed
automatic transmissions used for Jaguar XJ-S 1975-1996. Additionally, it
can replace the four speed gear box used in the S3 XKE V12.

Shifter & Boot Shifter
handle comes through factory opening in console NO CONSOLE MODIFICATION.
Trimmed in premium Conolly black leather boot and leather knob, options are
available for boot (colors), shifter knob (burl walnut wood and composite
variations) and handle size (super short throw).

Manual Console Finisher (console cover
plate) Available as option is a brand new console finisher designed
specifically for manual shifter. Hole opening is slightly wider and
proportioned for the best appearance and location. Available in three wood
options: Burl Walnut, Sap Burl Walnut, Carpathaian Elm. This is a direct
replacement piece for the stock console finisher. Simply replace
accessories (ashtray, cigar lighter, wind lift switches) to the new finisher and
install as original. This is a beautiful option, especially for pre-88
cars having black vinyl finisher plate or for later cars whose wood has become
worn/cracked/damaged. (Note: complete wood refinishing service available.)
